By carefully examining every property’s title history, creatively resolving title issues, and offering phenomenal service, American Title Agency of Lenawee strives to get your deal to the closing table with the utmost professionalism and expertise.
Our team
Our team is experienced, dedicated, and passionate about title and real estate. Our team members are title and escrow professionals who have been serving customers in Michigan for decades, along with new professionals to the industry who represent the next generation of title agents. It is our pleasure to put our collective experience and enthusiasm to work for each client and each deal.
Management
Liz Halabu Casselman, Esq.
President
Liz oversees the day-to-day operations at American Title Agency of Lenawee. She works closely with our underwriters, directs our 1031 Exchanges, issues final policies, and troubleshoots throughout the process, ensuring that our clients receive exemplary and responsive service from beginning to closing (and beyond). Liz uses her law degree and MBA to keep the company running smoothly and ensure the employees are up to date with the latest advancements in the title industry.
Shamil E. Halabu, Esq.
Vice President
Shamil has practiced real estate and business law in Michigan since 1985, has held a real estate agent’s license since 1990, and has worked in the title insurance industry since 1999. Having helped close thousands of transactions in his career, he brings a wealth of experience and a commonsense approach to closing each deal. Shamil specializes in finding creative solutions to title issues that satisfy the many parties involved in each deal, especially in complex commercial deals.
Peter Halabu, Esq.
General Counsel
Peter acts as general counsel for American Title Agency of Lenawee and resolves complicated and last-minute title issues. Since graduating from Harvard Law School in 2010, he has practiced law in the areas of business transactions, commercial litigation, secured debt, real estate, and bankruptcy. He has also held a real estate agent’s license since 2004. His experience in title, law, and real estate helps him anticipate client needs and stay on top of even the most complicated and difficult deals.
Beth Fetzer
Office Manager
Beth has been a fixture at American Title Agency of Lenawee and in our community for decades. From supplying additional documents, to arranging closings and notaries, to post-closing follow up, she is the go-to for American Title Agency of Lenawee’s real estate agents and lenders. With her extensive experience in resolving title issues and expertise with escrow disbursement, she is a valuable part of American Title Agency of Lenawee’s management team.
Examiners
Jody Fletcher
Jody is our chief examiner, with well over three decades of experience handling properties all over Lenawee County and the surrounding communities. She is an expert at her craft, with a wealth of knowledge that can only be earned by her impressive experience.
Bonnie Zenk
Bonnie has over thirty years of experience in the title industry, and is a title examiner at American Title Agency of Lenawee. She abstracts and examines at least forty years of history on each parcel before issuing the title commitment.
Pre- and Post-Processors
Catherine Schultz
Catherine receives and greets every visitor to our office. Besides opening each new order, issuing protection letters to lenders, and managing the flow of the files, she also fields questions, answers phone calls, and handles dropped-off documents and checks.
Pam Richardson
Pam is responsible for writing each title insurance policy that American Title Agency of Lenawee issues, handling the substantial document recording work for each file, and specializes as the construction loan expert handling construction draw endorsements.
Processors & Closers
Jennifer Chittenden
Jennifer is our senior processor for title files. She drafts closing documents for both residential and commercial files, especially for complicated and last-minute closings.
Amber Swander
Amber processes and closes residential files, including cash deals, split closings, sale/purchases with new loans, and refinances.
